Conte: Happy with the Victory, Representing the National Team is an Incomparable Honor
Tuesday 07-04-2026
Italian Antonio Conte, the coach of Napoli, opened the door to the possibility of managing the Italian national team in the upcoming period, while also confirming that his future with his current club is still under discussion, following the victory over Milan in the Italian league.

In his statements, Conte said: "Let's not forget that last year, during the last three months of the season, the media talked about my departure from Napoli to go to Juventus."

He continued: "The media has to write something, and it's natural for my name to appear on the list, and if I were the president of the Italian Football Federation, I would put my name among the candidates along with others, and for several reasons, I would put Conte on that list."

He added: "I have already worked with the Italian national team and I know the atmosphere well, and I am happy about that because representing your country is something wonderful."

Regarding his future with Napoli, he said: "I have one year left on my contract with the club, and at the end of the season, I will sit down with the president to discuss the matter."

In a related context, Conte touched on the state of Italian football after failing to qualify for the World Cup, saying: "It's frustrating that if we had won the penalty shootout against Bosnia and qualified for the World Cup, people would have talked about a great achievement and a team playing great football, but in this sport, only results count."

He continued: "After three consecutive World Cup editions, something serious must be done, and when I was the national team coach, there was a lot of talk, but I received very little support from the clubs."

He concluded his statements by saying: "Now everything is seen as a disaster, but even in disasters, there is always something that can be salvaged, and we must understand that if things don't change, they will remain the same whether we qualify or not, as everyone cares about the national team, and real steps must be taken."
