De Jong's Position on Participating Against Atletico Madrid in La Liga
Wednesday 01-04-2026
Barcelona's Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong continued his rehabilitation training in the gym to recover from an injury to his right leg, making it almost impossible for him to participate in Saturday's match against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish league.

On the other hand, today's first-team training showed that Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde have strong chances to return to the starting lineup for Saturday's match, after missing previous matches due to injuries.

It is likely that coach Hans Flick will prefer not to risk De Jong's participation against Atletico, and instead keep him ready for the second Champions League match in the triple encounters against the Madrid team.

During the absence of international players, Flick relied on Barcelona Athletic players to participate in the training session, and both the men's and women's first teams trained on adjacent fields, with coaches Hans Flick and Pere Romeo taking the opportunity to greet and communicate with each other.

The women's team, in turn, focused on preparing for today's match against Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou in the return leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, after achieving a significant victory in the first leg with a score of 6-2.
