Hossam Ashour: I wanted to become the player with the most championships in the world

Hossam Ashour, the former Al-Ahly star, confirmed that he wanted to become the most decorated player in the world and talked about other matters regarding his time with the Red team.

Hossam Ashour said on the "El Clasico" program on "ON Sport" channel: "The video I posted when I left Al Ahly was inappropriate, and its timing was not right. I wished my departure from Al Ahly had been calm, just like I was on the field, but some problems occurred."

He added: "At that time, my goal was to play an additional season to become the most decorated player in the world. If I had continued, Dani Alves and I would have been tied as the players with the most titles, with 41 championships."

He continued: "The Al Ahly management had no problem with my continuation, but Feiler did not want me to stay. He asked me about the number of championships, and I answered 36. He responded at the time, 'Isn't that enough?' I asked him what he meant, and he treated the matter with a kind of humor."

He concluded: "Based on my experience with Al Ahly club, the return of Weiler to lead Al Ahly is difficult, but he is a good coach and still young. However, after leaving the club, he had several experiences and did not succeed."
