Enppi Player: We Did Not Intentionally Lose the Al Ahly Match
Marwan Dawood, a player for the Enppi team, confirmed that his team did not intentionally lose the match against Al Ahly in the Premier League.
ENPPI drew 0-0 with Zamalek in the match held as part of the fourth round of the league title decider stage.
Al Ahly achieved a significant victory over the petroleum team with a 3-0 win in the sixth and penultimate round of the league championship stage.
Marwan Dawood said during his statements on "On Sports FM" radio: "People think that we were not trying in the match against Al Ahly, but no, we were not neglecting the match at all."
He added, "Our physical effort was affected due to the match against Zamalek and Pyramids. I'll say something that people might not know, which is that the reward for winning against Al Ahly was double the reward for the Zamalek match."
He continued: "It was impossible for us to let the match go so that Al Ahly or Zamalek could win the league, and abandon our livelihood. We look forward to Al Ahly and Zamalek matches to showcase ourselves and become known."
He added: "Zamalek players are under pressure because of the Confederation Cup match and the Ceramica Cleopatra match in the league, as they could simply win two championships in one week. So, surely both the Zamalek players and the fans are under pressure."
He emphasized, "I am very considerate of the feelings of Zamalek fans because they have gone through a very tough season and they are eager to win a championship despite the difficulties the club has faced."
He concluded: "Talk about match-fixing and the like is nonexistent. I think Ahmed Mihoub's position was natural; his team was losing and in the last minute, he was trying, and this happens everywhere in the world. There's nothing in our league called match-fixing."
