Luka Modric has not yet decided whether he will activate the clause that allows him to continue with Milan next season, according to the agreement signed last summer after his departure from Real Madrid.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that the Croatian player is the standout performer this season with the Italian team, having delivered an impressive performance since his transfer, which has made the club pleased with the numbers Modric is achieving in various competitions.

During this season, Modric missed only one match in the Italian league, playing 29 out of 30 rounds for a total of 2,456 minutes, in addition to two matches in the Coppa Italia and one match in the Italian Super Cup.

The final decision on whether to stay or leave remains in the hands of the player, who will turn 41 next September. His primary goal was to participate in the World Cup next summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

It should be clarified that the clause allowing for an extension does not require a minimum number of matches, but rather depends on the agreement of both parties if they wish to extend the relationship for an additional season.

The same source confirmed that Modric significantly reduced his salary compared to what he earned with Real Madrid over 13 seasons. His current contract ranges between 1.5 million and 3 million euros annually, compared to five million in his last season with Real Madrid, and ten million in the 2023/2024 season.

Therefore, the final decision remains with the Croatian player regarding continuing for an additional season, which would extend his contract until June 30, 2027, when he will be nearing 42 years old, while continuing to deliver outstanding performances with Milan.
