Statements by Moatamed Gamal Following Zamalek's Qualification to the Confederation Cup Semi-Finals
Zamalek coach Moatamed Gamal expressed his happiness at his team's qualification for the semi-finals of the African Confederation Cup.
Zamalek qualified for the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup after overcoming Congolese team Otoho with a 2-1 victory this Sunday evening in the second leg of the quarter-finals. The first leg had ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the press conference following the match, Moatamed Gamal said: "I can't find enough words of thanks for the Zamalek fans. If it weren't for the presence of the fans in today's match, the team would have been eliminated from the tournament."
He added: "I have never trained any player as a goalkeeper before, and I do not wish to repeat this situation again. However, this was misconduct by the goalkeeper, and I was the one who decided to have Seif El-Jaziri play as goalkeeper after asking the players who would be the most suitable to participate following Mohamed Sobhi's dismissal."
Moatamed Gamal confirmed: "There is a list of penalties that will be applied to any player who makes a mistake, and therefore it will be applied to Mohamed Sobhi after his expulsion in today's match."
Regarding the issue with player Mohamed Awad and the club, it was stated: "Mohamed Awad's problem was resolved before today's match, and the goalkeeper will be with the team as usual. He will participate in training normally after Zamalek returns from the break, and the team needs the services of all players in the upcoming period."
