Hossam Hassan banned from appearing in the media

The Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt, chaired by Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, has decided to ban the appearance of Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan and his ex-wife Dan Adam in all media outlets.

The Supreme Media Council confirmed in its statement that the decision is part of the Council's role in reinforcing the commitment of media outlets to professional and ethical standards, preserving the sanctity of private life and public morals, and regulating media practice to achieve a balance between freedom of opinion and expression and the responsibilities that come with it.

It was pointed out that the procedure came in light of the decision issued by the council obliging institutions, media outlets, press, and digital platforms subject to the provisions of Law No. 180 of 2018, not to circulate, provide, or discuss any content related to crises or family disputes or personal life secrets of all citizens without exception, and to adhere to the media codes and standards issued by the council that regulate media handling in this regard.

The council emphasized the need for media outlets to adhere to its decision regarding the prohibition of circulating, providing, or discussing any content related to crises or family disputes or personal life secrets of all citizens without exception, confirming that legal actions stipulated in the penalties regulation will be taken against any media outlet that violates this decision.

The council clarified that the media should be a space for raising awareness and knowledge, not a battleground for settling personal disputes or exchanging accusations and quarrels, especially since the resolution of conflicts and personal issues remains the responsibility of investigative authorities and the judiciary.

The council pointed out that protecting the stability of the sports system and prioritizing national interest require providing a suitable environment for the national team's coaching staff to fulfill their responsibilities, focusing on preparations for upcoming sports events, away from any disputes or disagreements that do not serve Egyptian sports.
