Carrick: We Deserved Another Penalty Against Bournemouth, and We Are in a Good Position
Saturday 21-03-2026
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick spoke about his team's 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in the 31st round of the Premier League, expressing his dissatisfaction with some of the refereeing decisions during the match.

Carrick said, "We should have been awarded another penalty; it's clear that if one was given, the other should have been as well."

He added: "For me, the two incidents are almost identical; there was hand pulling in both cases. The referee made a mistake in one, but to count one and not the other is something I can't comprehend. I think it's crazy and confusing."

He continued: "Because of that, they scored the goal, and then the match became chaotic. We should have been awarded another penalty, and the game would have been completely different."

Regarding his assessment of the team's performance, he said: "We are in a good position; we have placed ourselves in this spot thanks to good work, results, and strong performance."

He added, "We could have achieved more tonight, but it's not the end of the world."

He concluded his remarks by saying: "We have improved, and there are things we can develop, and we can become much better. I am happy with what has happened now, but we are not satisfied, and we definitely want more."
