Inzaghi Reveals the Secrets Behind Al-Hilal's Qualification to the King's Cup Final
Thursday 19-03-2026
Italian Simone Inzaghi, coach of Saudi club Al-Hilal, revealed exciting technical details following the qualification for the King's Cup final, after a strong match against Al-Ahli that was decided by penalty shootouts.

Inzaghi expressed his objection to the decision to award a penalty in favor of Al-Ahly, asserting that the situation did not warrant the penalty and that the intervention of video technology further complicated the refereeing scene.

The Italian coach pointed out that his team created several dangerous opportunities, and the trio of Salem Al-Dawsari, Karim Benzema, and Malcom could have converted them into goals, but luck was missing in the final touch.

Inzaghi explained that he asked his players to repay the club on the field, praising their spirit of sacrifice, especially from some players who participated despite suffering from various injuries.

He confirmed that the team works daily to improve performance, noting that the numbers reflect Al Hilal's strength this season, having played 38 matches and won 31 of them.

Regarding the delay in substitutions, Inzaghi emphasized that the decision was intentional to give confidence to the attacking trio, explaining that the same approach was followed by Al-Ahly coach Matthias Jaissle, given the strength of both teams' forward lines.

He concluded his statements by emphasizing the difficulty of the match, noting that tactical patience was the hallmark of the encounter, and that the goal was to settle the game early, but balance prevailed until the end.
