A Major Termination Clause in Mahrez's Contract with Al-Ahli

Reports have revealed intriguing details about Algerian star Riyad Mahrez's contract with Al-Ahli, amid ongoing discussions about the player's future in the coming period.

Mahrez's contract with Al-Ahli extends until the summer of 2027, since he joined the team from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 on a long-term deal.

According to the circulated information, the contract includes a clause that grants either the player or the club the right to terminate the contract within a specified period only, from June 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026, in exchange for paying 15 million dollars.

If this clause is not activated during that time window, the party wishing to terminate the contract afterward will be required to pay the full value of the remaining duration of the contract, which is estimated at around 40 million dollars. This makes any future decision regarding departure financially complicated.
