Will Real Madrid Approach the Arbitration Committee?
Tuesday 17-03-2026
The Spanish club Real Madrid is preparing to attend the refereeing committee meeting scheduled for next Tuesday in the city of Las Rozas, after missing the last meeting in November. This meeting, called by the Royal Spanish Football Federation in collaboration with La Liga, aims to discuss refereeing improvements in preparation for the upcoming season, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

The stance of Real Madrid's management, which opposes the working style of the refereeing body, is well-known. This is evident from the weekly video clips on Real Madrid's channel, as well as the statements made by club president Florentino Perez at the recent general assembly and the Christmas banquet with the media.

The arbitration committee, established a year ago, is tasked with reaching a consensus between La Liga, the Royal Spanish Football Federation, and the Central Arbitration Committee regarding any changes in the arbitration system. Real Madrid's presence, despite not being chosen as a representative for the other league clubs, comes by special invitation from the RFEF, alongside other clubs such as Sevilla, Betis, Granada, and Albacete.

The meeting focuses on discussing potential changes for the upcoming season, including the adoption of the chip system in the ball announced by Javier Tebas last week, which will allow for the automatic detection of offside situations in matches.

This meeting represents an important opportunity for Real Madrid to participate in shaping the future of Spanish refereeing and improving the quality of matches, amidst ongoing discussions about the club's relationship with the refereeing body for months.
