Arteta: I Don't Think Much About the Quadruple, and This is My Opinion on Moyes
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta appeared at a press conference to discuss Saturday's match against Everton in the 30th round of the English Premier League, at the Emirates Stadium.
The coach said about the international break, "We have very good communication with most national team coaches. We make precise decisions regarding the players' conditions, and they also communicate with the players and know what is expected of them. This helps us monitor everyone's condition and have the necessary conversations to make the right decisions."
He added: "It's a period I don't enjoy much, especially when we have 18 or 19 players participating with their national teams. Particularly with what happened to us previously when key players got injured, but this is part of the match schedule and we have to accept it."
Regarding his team's 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, he said: "Every result and every moment of resilience affects the team's momentum and emotional state. The draw was a good outcome because we deserved to lose that match, but now I move directly to the next game. There's no time to dwell on it; we have to get back to work."
He continued discussing the possibility of winning four titles this season: "It's enough to talk with the locker room to understand how much we appreciate the position we are in now and how much we want to be in the same place at the end of the season. It depends on us, and we must focus on what we have to do until the end."
He continued: "Every match you win now represents a big step towards the goal. We have a tough match tomorrow, and we will have to earn the victory. If we achieve that, we will be closer to what we want."
Regarding winning the quadruple: "I don't think about it much. We move from one tournament to another, and within seven days we will play in three different competitions. This makes you constantly move from one challenge to another, and all we want is to be in the best possible condition."
Regarding the debate about his team's playing style, he said: "It's about playing in the best possible way that gives you the best chance to win the match, that's the goal."
Arteta also praised Everton's manager David Moyes, saying: "I am very grateful to him. He changed my career when I decided to return to Spain and then brought me back to Everton. He changed my career as a player, and I learned a lot from him. He is one of the greatest managers in the Premier League. Maintaining this level of continuity across several clubs is very difficult, and people should appreciate that. You must have strong values, a strong work ethic, and a great passion for the game."
