Thursday 12-03-2026
The Italian club AS Roma has clarified its stance regarding the circulating news about the French club Lens activating the option to permanently purchase the contract of Saudi defender Saud Abdulhamid.

Saud Abdulhamid joined Lens on loan for one season during the last summer transfer window, coming from Roma.

The loan contract includes a clause that grants the French club the right to permanently purchase the player if they wish to retain his services after the end of the season.

In this context, Frederic Massara, the sporting director of Roma, denied the reports claiming that Lens had activated the option to purchase the player.

Masara clarified in a press statement that the Lens management has not yet informed AS Roma of any official decision regarding the activation of the purchase clause for the Saudi player.

The Italian official confirmed that everything being circulated on this matter is inaccurate, emphasizing that the club has not received any official notification so far.

Saud Abdulhamid is delivering impressive performances with Lens this season, having started in 12 matches for the team.

The last appearance of the Saudi player was against Metz in the 25th round of the French league, during which he managed to score the first goal for his team.
