Ferreira: Zamalek Declined After Me, and Ahmed Sherif Deserves Europe
Yannick Ferreira, the former coach of Zamalek, spoke about several matters regarding his tenure as the head coach of the Whites and pointed out that the team's position in the league standings declined after his departure.
Ferreira said in statements to "ON Sport" channel: "Was my work at Zamalek not appreciated? That period is over for me. I am looking forward, and if I talk about that period, I would say that I worked under difficult conditions and did my utmost."
He added: "We were at the top of the standings for a few weeks, and after I left the team, they fell behind in the rankings. When I look back at my work with Zamalek, I describe that period as being very good."
He continued: "We did a good job under difficult circumstances. I am living my life now, and Zamalek is living its life now. I am focused on my work, and I wish Zamalek success."
Regarding the best Egyptian player who deserves to play in Europe, Ferreira said: "I have seen very good players, but I can't recall names at the moment. However, I can confirm that many Egyptian players deserve to play in European leagues."
He continued: "Football is different in Europe, and the Egyptian player must adapt to the conditions and practice discipline in European stadiums. However, on a technical and tactical level, I believe there are many Egyptian players who can play in Europe."
He concluded: "I have an example, Ahmed Sherif from Zamalek, he is an extremely talented player who came to us from a small team. He spent a long time at Zamalek to adapt, but he deserves to play in Europe."
