Tebas Responds to Xavi Regarding Approval of Messi's Return to Barcelona
Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish La Liga, responded to statements made by former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez, in which he claimed that the La Liga association was in favor of Lionel Messi's return in 2023.
Xavi stated yesterday that La Liga had given the green light for Messi's return after winning the World Cup, confirming that the deal was close to completion before the club president, Joan Laporta, refused to finalize it.
For his part, Tebas categorically denied these statements, asserting that what was said is inaccurate. He stated in his remarks: "This is not true, La Liga has not given any approval whatsoever, and there was no green light regarding this process."
The Argentine star left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, then moved to Inter Miami in the summer of 2023, and recently renewed his contract until 2028.
