Ajax Moves to Sign Ter Stegen

Friday 12-06-2026
Ajax Amsterdam has included German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen in its options to strengthen the goalkeeper position during the current transfer window, based on coach Michel's desire.

The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that Michel asked Ajax's management to study the possibility of signing Ter Stegen, given his vast experience and capabilities, in addition to the good relationship they had during their time at Girona.

The Dutch club's management has begun gathering information about the physical condition of the German goalkeeper, who continues to recover from a left thigh muscle injury he sustained while playing with Girona, before undergoing surgery.

Ter Stegen is in the final phase of his rehabilitation program, while Barcelona awaits to grant him medical clearance to participate with the start of the new season's preparation period on July 13.

The report indicated that Ajax currently includes individuals with good relations with Barcelona, including Jordi Cruyff, Michel, and members of his technical staff, which facilitates monitoring the German goalkeeper's situation.

Despite Ajax's interest, Ter Stegen's future remains undecided, as he may wait to know his role within Barcelona during the summer preparations, especially since coach Hans Flick identified Juan Garcia as the first choice and Szczesny as the second choice for the goalkeeper position last season.
