Wembley Competes with Spotify Camp Nou to Host 2029 Champions League Final

Friday 12-06-2026
The competition to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final has been decided, after Wembley Stadium became the only competitor against Spotify Camp Nou, as confirmed by the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo', following the closure of the application submission without any new candidates appearing.

The newspaper explained that UEFA received only two applications from Wembley and Spotify Camp Nou to host the final scheduled for June 2, 2029, which makes the decision limited to these two options without any additional surprises.

UEFA will begin the process of reviewing the applications over the next three months, with the official announcement of the host stadium's identity expected during the executive committee meeting scheduled for September 15 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The application from Barcelona for Spotify Camp Nou is in collaboration with the Spanish government, after being approved by the Council of Ministers, the Government of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council, and the Royal Spanish Football Federation, while Wembley's application is supported by the English Football Association and official bodies in the United Kingdom and London.

Spotify Camp Nou is preparing to be ready with a capacity of up to 104,600 spectators and approximately 9,000 VIP seats, enhancing its chances of hosting the final, especially with the upcoming 2030 World Cup.

The 2027 final is scheduled to be held at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, while Munich will host the 2028 final at the Allianz Arena, making the 2029 race limited to Barcelona and Wembley only.
