Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola appeared in a press conference following the 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the FA Cup Round of 16, held at St James' Park.

The coach said after qualifying for the quarter-finals: "It was a fantastic performance. When we tried to build a series of passes, we, especially Savinho and Jeremy Doku, were very decisive. This was the best performance I've seen from us on this pitch since we joined the team. Truly an outstanding performance."

He added, "We played brilliantly. It was important to score a goal in the first minute of the second half. After that, and until the end, our performance was very good - defense and midfield, overall - everyone."

He continued about Omar Marmoush's brilliance and his scoring of two goals: "I'm happy for Omar, his second goal was fantastic. To beat Newcastle, you have to deliver an outstanding performance, especially in the FA Cup."

He concluded: "Listen, it's not about whether it's a penalty or not. There are some refereeing decisions that are hard for me to understand. When Jeremy [Doku] is pulled from behind, it's considered a foul everywhere except here. That's what happened."
