European-Argentinian Struggle Over Al-Qadsia's Top Scorer
Saturday 07-03-2026
The Argentine club River Plate is planning to enter the upcoming transfer market aggressively to sign one of the prominent stars of Al-Qadisiyah, aiming to strengthen their attacking line before the start of the new season.

Reports from the "futbol fichajes" network revealed that River Plate's management has placed Italian striker Mateo Retegui among the top options to strengthen the center-forward position, following his outstanding performance with Al-Qadsiah this season.

Retegui, 26 years old, joined Al-Qadsiah during the last summer transfer window from Atalanta, in a deal valued at approximately 68.25 million euros.

The Italian forward has delivered impressive performances since his arrival in the Saudi league, participating in 26 matches across various competitions, scoring 16 goals, and providing one assist.

According to the same reports, the River Plate management is considering making an official offer to sign the player in the upcoming period. However, negotiations may face difficulties due to Al-Qadisiyah's insistence on keeping their attacking star.

Retegui is considered one of the key pillars in Al-Qadisiyah's lineup this season, which makes the idea of letting him go complicated for the club's management due to his significant impact on the team.

In the search for offensive options, River Plate's management has compiled a shortlist that includes several names alongside Retegui, among them Lucas Beltrán, Mauro Icardi, and Giovanni Simeone.

It is worth mentioning that the name of the Italian striker was also linked with a move to Manchester United during the last winter transfer window, following reports that the English club was prepared to pay between 50 and 60 million euros to sign him.
