Allegri: Winning Against Pisa Wasn't Easy, We Must Learn from Modric's Character
Massimiliano Allegri praised Luka Modric after leading Milan to a 2-1 away victory against Pisa in the Italian league, emphasizing that the team needs to improve despite securing three valuable points.
Allegri said: "It wasn't easy tonight, because Pisa is a troublesome team to face. They seem to retreat and do nothing, then launch counterattacks, and they surprised us with their goal as well."
He continued: "We got three points, but we need to improve after this performance."
He added: "This team has technical quality, but sometimes we become mentally slow, and here we must raise our level. The whole season could change within a week, and this was our sixth away game out of the last nine, so the victory wasn't a given."
Regarding the winning goal scored by Modric, Allegri said: "Beyond his great technique, he really wanted to achieve this win in the end. We must all learn from his character and incredible humility."
He continued: "We are happy to have him here, and the young players should make the most of working with him."
Concerning the missed penalty, the Milan coach stated: "Penalties can be missed, it was an important moment, but these things happen."
He added: "Pulisic and Leao entered with the right spirit, and having three forwards of this level gives the team many options."
Allegri concluded his statements by saying: "The important thing is that we got three points, and now we have 53 points, meaning we are one win away from achieving our goal."
