Guardiola: Haaland is not 100% ready, and player fatigue demands caution
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, confirmed that the team's striker Erling Haaland is not fully ready for the match against Salford City in the fourth round of the FA Cup, scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday, at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola said: "Erling Haaland's fitness? He's not 100% ready, but we'll see today how he feels. The doctor told me it's not a big issue, but he experienced some pain during the last match against Fulham, which is why he didn't play in the second half. We'll see how his condition develops and decide today on his status for tomorrow's match."
Regarding the pressure on the team, Guardiola continued: "We are extremely exhausted mentally and physically due to the massive number of matches over many months, with very few days of rest. We can take a short break after the Salford match."
Regarding Bernardo Silva's future, Guardiola clarified: "No, I have no idea, honestly. I told him before, when you make a decision, let me know, but currently, I have no idea about his future."
Regarding Jim Ratcliffe's statements, one of the owners of Manchester United, about immigrants, he said: "The color of the skin or place of birth doesn't matter; we have a lot of work to do. Does being Catalan make me better than you? No."
He added, "I studied in my country, traveled to Mexico, and lived in Qatar, Italy, England, and Germany. All of this contributed to shaping my personality. I grew up there, met wonderful people, and then traveled, and that is the essence of it."
Guardiola concluded his remarks by saying: "The more we sincerely and genuinely embrace other cultures, the better we will be, and it will be a better society, I have no doubt about that."
