The star of the Jordanian national team and Al-Zawraa club, Amer Jamous, commented on his first goal wearing the 'Nawaris' jersey, which contributed to achieving a valuable victory for his team over the Emirati club Al-Wasl with a score of (3-2) in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League 2, held at Al-Zawraa Stadium in the capital, Baghdad, amid a remarkable fan atmosphere.

Jamous said: 'The team's match against Al-Wasl was very significant, and Al-Zawraa players gave their all in the confrontation and fought until the last moment, and everyone was at their best, and the victory was achieved thanks to collective efforts.'

He added: 'Now we are closer to the quarter-finals, and we have another match we look forward to winning there in the UAE.'

He pointed out: 'The support of the fans from the first minute to the last was very important, and this is what distinguishes playing on our home ground, as fans come from everywhere to support us, and this motivates us to present our best levels and progress both in Asia and locally.'

He continued: 'Everyone knows that there are no limits to the ambitions of the Nawaris, and we believe in our ability to overcome difficulties as long as we are united.'

He concluded: 'My first goal with Al-Zawraa is just the beginning of better things to come, God willing, as the team improves day by day, and we work on developing our levels from one match to another to help the team achieve its goals.'

He wrapped up: 'Al-Zawraa aspires to leadership, and its fans think of this goal only, and we promise them to strive to achieve it.'

Despite the remarkable performance by the Jordanian player during the match, the coaching staff led by Egyptian coach Emad Al-Nahhas decided to substitute him in the 69th minute, a decision that raised questions among the fans.

Assistant coach Mohamed Mohsen explained: 'Sometimes we have to take risks, and when we move forward, it is a result of our confidence in ourselves and our ability to play.'

He added: 'It is true that taking risks may affect us sometimes, but we think systematically on the field, and we are keen to keep our players from fatigue and injuries.'

He continued: 'The coaching staff decided to rest Jamous to keep him ready for the next match, as some matches require special focus like the encounter with Al-Wasl.'

He concluded: 'We tried to be cautious of counterattacks that posed a threat to us from the first half, and in the end, we were successful, and we look forward to another positive result in the return match.'

Jamous delivered one of his standout performances with Al-Zawraa, receiving a rating of 8.3 out of 10, with an accurate pass rate of 90% according to the 'SofaScore' platform, confirming his high technical value and growing role within the Nawaris lineup.
