Al-Ghandour Praises Zamalek's Excellence Despite Club's Crisis
Media personality Khaled Al-Ghandour praised Zamalek's performance despite the numerous crises facing the club recently.
Al-Ghandour said via Facebook: "If we speak logically, it won't work because logic is very far from what's happening, and if we speak rationally, it also won't work because rational calculations would never say that Zamalek would top its group in Africa or be second in the league above Pyramids and Al Ahly."
He continued: "Our talk must come from the heart, about the spirit, belonging, and history... about the secret of the great audience and its magic because simply, we are talking about Zamalek, more than ten registration suspensions, severe financial crises, devastating injuries to the team's key stars, selling the team's key stars in the last two years, and the withdrawal of the land on which the club had built great hopes. Any one of these reasons is enough to destroy any club, yet there are still three things that cannot be taken away from Zamalek, which are its secret and magic. These three things are God's blessing, the great audience, the greatest audience in the universe indeed, the name Zamalek, the inspiring name that makes the audience and players feel like they are heroes sacrificing and facing opponents outside the green rectangle. Supporting Zamalek is a choice, not an instinct."
He added: "With all due respect to Al Ahly and its fans, when asked about their affiliation, they say... Of course, Ahly, because Al Ahly is dominant and stable, so naturally, it attracts fans."
He concluded: "But the Zamalek fan is someone who chose and understood that support means to back, support, love, and sacrifice, not just to rejoice. This club has a strange secret, a secret that makes a player like Mostafa Shalaby, whom many said when he signed for Zamalek it was against his first desire and that he was sad at first, but gradually he integrated with his colleagues and the audience, felt the value of Zamalek, and bid farewell to the club and its fans in an ideal manner. Zamalek is still in his heart. There are many beautiful things in our lives, including authenticity and sacrifice, including the idea that history and belonging can overcome any obstacles and can be much more important than money and deals. Long live Zamalek, the school of art and engineering, and long live the great Zamalek audience."
