Guardiola: Arsenal is the Best Team in the World, and This Achievement is Significant
Thursday 05-02-2026
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola appeared in a press conference following the team's qualification to the English League Cup final after defeating Newcastle United 3-1 in the second leg of the semi-final, in a match held at the Etihad Stadium. It is worth noting that the first leg had ended with a 2-0 victory for Manchester City.

The coach said in his talk: "With Newcastle, you can't completely control them. They faced James Trafford one-on-one - James was amazing, especially in the first half. I know the players' rhythm, and we saw that."

"Newcastle is a team qualified for the Champions League and includes top-tier players. It was an extremely exciting match in every aspect, but the players were truly outstanding."

He added: "In March, we will return to Wembley for the final. We will travel to London again, and Arsenal will be waiting for us there. They don't travel north [for finals], but I am very happy to return. Reaching the League Cup final 5 times in the last ten years is a great achievement."

He continued about Omar Marmoush: "His movements are really excellent. His runs behind the defenders and his amazing scoring sense. I am very happy for him. This type of match can be mentally complex, but we started off strong."

Regarding the development of James Trafford: "I said from the beginning that he is a top-class goalkeeper. He has a bright future ahead of him."

Regarding the opportunity for some players to win their first title with the club: "That would be fantastic. We need to live this experience; the first title we won here was the Carabao Cup. When you win something, it motivates you to win more. It's a pleasure to play against Arsenal, the best team currently in Europe, and perhaps in the world."
