A New Striker Approaches and Decisive Decisions Regarding Simic and Al-Aboud
Al-Ittihad Club is intensifying its activities during the current winter transfer window to finalize a new attacking signing, while simultaneously deciding the futures of Serbian defender Karlo Simic and winger Abdulrahman Al-Aboud.
The federation officials are closely monitoring the efforts of the Spanish sporting director Ramon Planes to recruit a suitable striker, after the technical committee finalized the desired name, with the aim of strengthening the Tigers squad in the upcoming phase.
The Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah" revealed that Al-Ittihad's management is awaiting final decisions from Planes regarding the future of Karlo Simic, whether through loaning him out or selling his contract, as he is no longer part of the technical plans.
The Al-Ittihad management has seriously considered parting ways with Simic, after Portuguese coach Sergio Conceição was not convinced of his abilities during the past period.
The federal administration faces a legal challenge if Simic is replaced with another player born in a different year, due to FIFA regulations that prohibit a player from participating with three clubs in a single season.
The union may overcome this obstacle by having Simic transfer to a league that starts in January, or by moving to a club where he only participates in training sessions without playing official matches.
Al-Ittihad had signed Karlo Simic last September, coming from Belgian club Anderlecht on a contract extending until 2029, before the coaching staff's views changed.
On the other hand, Al-Ittihad's management insists on keeping Abdulrahman Al-Aboud and rejects the idea of his departure in the winter, despite his current absence due to a disciplinary decision by Conceição because of the tense relationship between the two parties.
