Guardiola: We Are Ready to Face United, and This Is the Team's Condition
Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, revealed the latest updates regarding his players' injuries and also talked about his team's preparations to face Manchester United in the Manchester Derby as part of the English Premier League.
During the press conference, Guardiola touched on the difficulty of preparing for the match amid the uncertainty of the new Manchester United coach's tactics, saying: "We don't have much information about what the opposing team's coach will do, and when information is lacking, you can't convey anything to the players, so we have to focus on ourselves."
The City manager added: "Perhaps with the lineup announcement tomorrow, some things will become clearer, and we can see what the coach did in the Middlesbrough match or in the first half of his game with Manchester United, but tactics always depend on the players, so I don't know what they will do."
Guardiola explained his idea with a scientific example, saying: "In the last match against Chelsea with a new coach, the first half was completely different from the second half, so it’s about adaptation and focusing on your own team."
He also spoke about the condition of player Omar Marmoush, confirming: "When Omar Marmoush finishes the third-place match in the Africa Cup of Nations, he will return to us directly."
Regarding the medical status of Manchester City players, Guardiola said: "Ruben Dias will return soon, as for Gvardiol, he still needs some time, and we hope John Stones will return soon, and we will see what the coming days will bring."
