Tuesday 13-01-2026
Gian Piero Gasperini, head coach of Roma, spoke after the 3-2 loss to Torino in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia, emphasizing the importance of clear team goals between immediate competition and developing young players.

Gasperini said, "I saw many good things, we came back in the match twice, and we rotated the players a lot. The end left us exhausted; we thought we would reach penalties."

He added about the team's situation in the market: "I am satisfied with what we have, we had a great first half of the season, and the players showed their best."

He continued regarding player Antonio Arnia: "I am happy for him, and we will seek to develop him in the best way. He has a great competitive drive, unlimited strength, and fears nothing. We will do the same with Robinho Vaz, as there is a long-term project here, and we focus on youth."

He further spoke about the match: "I am not disappointed; I am very satisfied with the performance. I only regret the goal we conceded in the 90th minute, but I am happy with the spirit these players showed. The match was good, and if the goal is to develop the youth, we will do that. The important thing is to be clear."

Gasperini concluded his statements by affirming that spirit and commitment are the foundation of his team, and that he will continue supporting young players and gradually integrating them with the first team to balance immediate results with the long-term project.
