D'Amico on the Verge of Joining Rome with a Long-term Contract

AS Roma is close to appointing Tony D'Amico as the club's new sporting director, after reaching an almost complete agreement between the two parties on a contract extending for three or four years as part of the new project led by the club's owners, the Friedkin family.

According to Italian reports, the personal agreement between Roma and D'Amico was reached days ago, and the contracts were ready, awaiting the resolution of the last obstacles related to his departure from Atalanta.

Dan Friedkin also engaged in direct communications with the management of the Bergamasque club to facilitate the Italian sporting director's move to the capital.

Damico was under contract with Atalanta, which prompted Roma to work on reaching a financial settlement or pay compensation to the club in order to amicably terminate the contractual relationship.

At the end of May, Atalanta officially announced the departure of D'Amico by mutual agreement, paving the way for his move to Roma.

D'Amico enjoys great trust from coach Gian Piero Gasperini, as they previously worked together at Atalanta during one of the most successful periods in the club's history, which saw them win the Europa League and repeatedly qualify for the Champions League.

For this reason, the Roma management considered him the ideal candidate to lead sports planning in the upcoming phase.
