Rome Approaches Finalizing Julian Brandt Deal
AS Roma is preparing to move to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt on a free transfer after his contract with the German club expires, according to the newspaper 'Corriere dello Sport'.
Brandt, who is 30 years old, is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of his contract on the 30th of this month, after spending seven years with the team.
According to the same source, Brandt formed a remarkable attacking partnership with striker Donyell Malen during his time in the Bundesliga, where they scored 73 goals together and assisted 62 goals over three and a half seasons.
The newspaper added that Roma's management has been monitoring the player's situation for several weeks, with former sporting director Ricky Massara having made contacts with Brandt's entourage to try to finalize the deal.
It also mentioned that Malen recently communicated with Brandt and asked him about the possibility of moving to Roma, to which the German player responded positively to the idea.
Brandt receives a relatively high salary, but it is not beyond Roma's financial capabilities, as his demands are estimated at around 4 million euros annually.
