Tuesday 13-01-2026
FC Barcelona has officially announced the return of Portuguese full-back João Cancelo to the team, after reaching an agreement with Saudi club Al Hilal for his loan until the end of the current season. He will wear the number 2 jersey, according to the official FC Barcelona website.

The signing ceremony, held today Tuesday at the club's offices, was attended by Barcelona president Joan Laporta, first vice president Rafael Yuste, board member Joan Soler, and football director Anderson Luís de Souza "Deco," along with the player's family.

Cancelo had previously played for Barcelona during the 2023/2024 season on loan from Manchester City. During that time, he delivered an impressive performance, participating in 42 official matches across various competitions, scoring four goals and providing five assists, becoming one of the key players in the team's lineup.

After the loan period ended on June 30, 2024, the player transferred to Al Hilal Saudi FC, where he played 45 matches over a season and a half, before returning once again to Barcelona for a second stint with the Catalan team.

João Cancelo has had a distinguished career with major European clubs. He began his journey with Benfica, then shone at Valencia, before having notable spells with Inter Milan, Juventus, and Manchester City, as well as loan periods at Bayern Munich and Barcelona. This extensive experience greatly enhances the team's options for the second half of the season.
