The Spanish Super Cup Confirms the Impact of Lewandowski and Ferran Torres at Barcelona
Monday 12-01-2026
The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo confirmed that the participation of both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres interchangeably as a central striker was one of the most notable changes implemented by Hans Flick in the 2025/2026 season compared to last season, directly contributing to the team's first title this season.

Ferran Torres scored a decisive goal in the semifinal against Athletic Bilbao, while Lewandowski scored in the final against Real Madrid, helping Barcelona win 3-2 and confirming the importance of rotating players to enhance the team's attacking effectiveness.

During the current season, Lewandowski appeared in 20 matches, scoring 10 goals from 10 starts, while Ferran surpassed him in playing time with 1,501 minutes compared to Lewandowski's 1,008 minutes.

This distribution reflects the change in participation volume between the players based on their ages, 25 years for Ferran versus 37 years for Lewandowski, after the situation was different in the 2024/2025 season when Lewandowski scored 42 goals in 3,931 minutes, and Ferran scored 19 goals in 1,945 minutes.

Flick relied on Lewandowski in the first half of the final to execute goals inside the box against Real Madrid, then brought Ferran on in the second half to utilize his speed and ability to move into spaces, making the rotation between the players an effective strategy, and the choice of a central striker a permanent matter in Barcelona's tactics this season.
