Guardiola: I Disagree with This Opinion, and We Delivered an Exceptional Performance
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola spoke to the press following the 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the twentieth round of the English Premier League.
The coach said: "I don't agree with the opinion that City lost control. They scored a goal, and that's the reason for analyzing the result. Of course, they pressed harder, and they had chances because we lost two balls at the start of the second half. But if you think they turned the game around, well, maybe you know better."
He added: "Chelsea is a world champion team. They don't have academy players; they have top-class players. So, it's very difficult to control the match for 90 minutes against a strong team. We missed chances in the second half—four or five attacks, two against one or three against two. Our talented players tried to finish the game, but we couldn't."
He emphasized: "This is the truth. When we talk about all the statistics in every aspect we can analyze, one of them is how effective we are in the final attacking third. Overall, our defensive performance, movements, and play have been exceptional."
He concluded regarding the six-point gap with Arsenal: "We will get the players back and see what happens on Wednesday."
