Spanish club Villarreal officially announced the signing of Argentine midfielder Thiago Fernández as a free agent. He will join the first team for five and a half seasons, lasting until June 2031, according to the club's official website.

The 21-year-old young player begins his training with the team immediately under the supervision of coach Marcelino García Toral, becoming part of the team's plans for the current season and strengthening the options for the attacking midfield.

Fernandez recently ended his contract with Argentine club Velez Sarsfield, where he established himself as a standout player in the youth teams before joining the first team in 2023. He scored 6 goals and provided 9 assists in 48 matches before suffering a serious knee injury in December 2024, which has kept him sidelined since then.

The signing of Thiago Fernández is part of Villarreal's plan to strengthen the midfield with young talents capable of contributing offensively, especially with the start of the second phase of the season, as the team aims to compete for European qualification spots.
