Tottenham target Alex Freeman to replace Porro if he leaves
Tottenham are considering American full-back Alex Freeman, currently of Villarreal, as an option to replace Pedro Porro, amid interest from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in signing the Spanish defender in 2027, according to TEAMtalk.
Tottenham have expressed their admiration for Alex Freeman's development, who is 22 years old, since his transfer from Orlando City to Villarreal in January. However, they are not the only club interested in him, as scouts from Manchester United have been monitoring him, while the "Blue Co" group, owners of Chelsea, and the City Football Group, owners of Manchester City, are also keeping an eye on his performances.
Freeman has had a standout year, earning his first call-up to the US national team in March and participating in all five of their World Cup matches, scoring a goal in the victory over Australia.
The player is under contract with Villarreal until 2032, but his impressive development may attract offers, with interested clubs likely to make a move during the winter transfer window.
Tottenham are searching for a potential long-term replacement for Pedro Porro after TEAMtalk reported that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in bringing him back to Spain in 2027, prompting the London club to explore their options in anticipation of his exit.
