Abdel Nasser Mohamed Denies Zamalek Players' Rebellion
Abdel Nasser Mohamed, the football director of Zamalek Club, denied the recent rumors about the first team's players rebelling and refusing to attend training sessions. This situation had led the coaching staff to rely on youth players in the match against Al Ittihad Alexandria in the Egypt Capital Cup.
Abdelnasser Mohamed said in his statements today, Thursday: "There is absolutely no truth to the claims that the players are refusing to train. The team is going through a very difficult phase due to the high number of injuries and suspensions."
Pointing out that Zamalek is suffering from eight injuries at once, including Abdullah Al-Saeed, Nabil Emad Donja, Mahmoud Gihad, Ahmed Rabie, Amr Nasser, Adam Kaid, Ahmed Abdel Rahim (Isho), and Baron Ochieng.
The team manager explained that the team is also missing several players for various reasons, most notably Mohamed Sobhi, Hossam Abdel Meguid, Mohamed Ismail, Ahmed Fattouh, Mohamed Shehata, Seif Al-Jaziri, and Chico Panza due to international commitments, in addition to Seif Jaafar who is suspended because of accumulated yellow cards, and Ahmed Hamdy due to an internal suspension, bringing the total number of absences to 17 players.
Abdel Nasser Mohamed concluded his statements by affirming: "After accounting for three goalkeepers, we are left with only seven players from the main squad, making it impossible to form a complete team covering all positions."
Therefore, players born between 2009 and 2005 were relied upon, despite the main players insisting on participating,” emphasizing that the Zamalek players are “loyal men” who take responsibility despite the difficult financial circumstances.
