Al-Ahli Sets Strict Condition for Ibañez's Departure
The management of Brazilian club Palmeiras has officially taken steps to explore the possibility of signing Roger Ibañez, the defender of Saudi club Al-Ahli, in preparation for acquiring him in the near future.
Turkish journalist Akram Konur, who specializes in transfer market news, revealed that Palmeiras has made an official offer to Al Ahly to open negotiations regarding Ibanez's transfer.
Konur explained, through his account on the platform "X," that Al-Ahli Jeddah's management demanded 25 million euros to approve the sale of the Brazilian defender.
The high financial demands represent a major obstacle to completing the deal, given Palmeiras' difficulty in meeting the conditions set by Al Ahly.
The report indicated that Palmeiras is looking to strengthen its defense by signing Ibanez; however, the player's high salary, along with the asking price, currently make the deal complicated.
The transfer of Ibañez requires an exceptional step or mutual concessions between both parties in order to overcome financial disagreements and finalize the deal.
Ibanez, 27 years old, joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2023 from Italian club Roma, and his current market value is 17 million euros.
The Brazilian defender played 97 matches for Al-Ahli in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists. He also won two titles with the team: the 2025 AFC Champions League Elite and the Saudi Super Cup.
