Fans of Iraq's Zakho Club Win The Best 2025 Award
Fans of Iraq's Zakho Club won The Best Award for Best Fans of 2025, in recognition of their outstanding humanitarian contributions towards sick children.
The organizing body stated that the club’s fans showed an exemplary spirit before their team’s match in the Iraqi Premier League against Al-Hudood on May 13, when they threw thousands of stuffed toys onto the pitch, which were then collected before the start of the match and donated to sick children.
The club explained in an official statement: "Our fans’ humanitarian act attracted attention in Kurdistan, Iraq, and Asia. They are always the backbone of the team with their creativity, and we look forward to their continued support to achieve greater successes."
Zakho’s fans topped the competition, surpassing two other nominees for the award.
This award has been given since 2016 to honor exceptional commitment from a fan or group of fans regardless of league or nationality, and it can also be granted for moments or gestures that left a mark in the world of football.
