Al-Zawraa earned a valuable point from Zakho Stadium after drawing with its host 1-1 in the match that brought the two teams together this evening at Zakho Stadium as part of the 27th round of the Iraqi Stars League. The encounter witnessed exciting events and dramatic twists until its final minutes.

Zakho started the match strongly at home and among its fans, successfully opening the scoring early in the 17th minute through Aso Mohammed, granting the 'Sons of Khabour' the lead and igniting the stands. The early goal gave the hosts great confidence, while putting Al-Zawraa under pressure from the start.

The 36th minute marked a significant turning point in the match when the referee showed a direct red card to Zakho defender Ahmed Ibrahim, forcing the hosts to play with ten men for over 50 minutes. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Zakho managed to maintain its lead with a clean sheet until the end of the first half.

With the start of the second half, Al-Zawraa exploited the numerical advantage and intensified its pressure and attacks in search of an equalizer, amidst a defensive retreat from Zakho to try to preserve the result.

In the 67th minute, Abdullah Naseeb managed to shake Zakho's net, equalizing the score, but the referee decided to cancel the goal due to an obstruction, allowing the hosts to maintain their lead. The excitement continued in the 77th minute when the referee awarded a penalty to Al-Zawraa, which Hassan Abdul Karim took but missed, wasting a golden opportunity to equalize.

Al-Zawraa's persistence did not stop, and the same player, Hassan Abdul Karim, returned to compensate for missing the penalty by scoring the equalizer in the 79th minute, granting the 'Nawras' a valuable point away from home. The remaining minutes did not witness any change in the result despite attempts from both sides, ending the encounter in a positive 1-1 draw.

With this draw, Al-Zawraa raised its tally to 48 points, maintaining fifth place in the Iraqi Stars League standings.

As for Zakho, it raised its tally to 47 points in seventh place, squandering two points that were within reach after its early lead, but the numerical disadvantage from the 36th minute made its task difficult and affected the team's physical performance in the second half.
