Bastoni... Barcelona's Forbidden Dream
Tuesday 16-12-2025
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' revealed that Barcelona continues to study the market for left-footed defenders, preparing for the medium-term future, where the name of Italian Alessandro Bastoni, Inter Milan defender, was proposed among the options surveyed by the sports management.

The newspaper mentioned that the departure of Iñigo Martínez, along with the defensive problems Barcelona suffered at the start of the season, pushed the club to open several files to strengthen the center-back position, whether in the winter transfer market or during the next summer, considering this position a priority for investment in the coming periods.

According to the newspaper, the brilliance of Gerard Martí temporarily eased the urgent need to sign a new defender, after he succeeded in imposing himself alongside Pau Cobrasi, which gave the coaching staff led by Hans Flick a greater margin to wait, especially given the current situation of Ronald Araújo.

The newspaper explained that the name Bastoni, one of the world's top defenders and leader of Inter Milan's back line, was present on the discussion table, and his situation was probed, but the decision was clear: the player is considered an unattainable option at present due to his high economic cost, remaining a forbidden dream for Barcelona currently.

The newspaper added that Barcelona continues to follow other names in the same position, as part of its search for a left-center defender who combines technical quality and continuity, serving the team's project in the present and future.
