Iniesta dreams of returning to FC Barcelona as a coach
Andrés Iniesta has revealed his dream of returning to FC Barcelona in the future, this time as a head coach. He confirmed that his coaching career is still in its early stages and that he prefers not to get ahead of events.
Andrés Iniesta, who won the FIFA World Cup with Spain in 2010, is currently pursuing his coaching career in the United Arab Emirates after previously managing Emirates FC and then Gulf United. Despite a modest start to his coaching career compared to his legendary playing career, the experience of his former teammate Xavi provides him with a model for what could happen in the future, as the latter began his coaching journey in Qatar before returning to FC Barcelona and is currently managing the Netherlands.
Andrés Iniesta stated in remarks to "Mundo Deportivo": "Destiny will decide what should happen. It is clear that it would be wonderful to continue my coaching career, considering what FC Barcelona means to me, but it is not a priority goal for me."
The former FC Barcelona legend added: "I have always said that my dream was to become a football player, and at that time I had clear goals and obsessions. When I arrived at FC Barcelona, my goal was to succeed with the first team. Those were goals and things I was completely sure about."
He continued: "Now, perhaps because I like to give myself time to think, and because I didn't plan to become a coach, the future will tell us what will happen. But it is true that I am enjoying this start a lot, not just because I have become a coach, but because of everything this experience entails."
