Santos Decides to Part Ways with Algerian International Bilal Brahimi

Brazilian club Santos has decided to part ways with their Algerian international player Bilal Brahimi during the upcoming winter transfer window, following a stint that did not yield the expected results after he joined the team three months ago on a free transfer.

Despite the Algerian national team striker joining Santos last September, he failed to convince coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda, who decided to exclude him entirely from his plans. Brahimi only played 26 minutes for Santos, during a single match that ended in a 2-2 draw against Red Bull Bragantino on September 28, and did not get another opportunity afterward.

Brazilian media reports indicated that the player, who joined from the French club Nice, faced difficulties adapting technically, tactically, and physically to the demands of South American football. Additionally, he struggled with a language barrier despite attending Portuguese language classes, which affected his integration and daily communication within the team.

The website PortalHortolandia reported yesterday that Santos' management has finalized its decision to let go of Brahimi and has already started looking for a new destination for him. They are not ruling out the option of mutually terminating the contract, noting that his current contract runs until December 2026, provided that both parties reach a final agreement in the coming days.
