Zamalek Moves to Lift Registration Ban and Settle Ferjani Sassi’s Dues
Zamalek club officials are continuing their intensive efforts during this period to resolve the issue of the registration ban imposed on the club due to outstanding financial dues owed to Tunisian player Ferjani Sassi, Swiss coach Christian Gross, as well as Portuguese José Gomes and his assistants. The management is striving to reopen the registration window before the upcoming transfer periods.
According to Al-Ahram newspaper, Zamalek's management is considering settling Ferjani Sassi's dues using the same method previously applied in the case of the Moroccan player Khalid Boutaib, by installment payments of the amount owed, estimated at around half a million dollars, instead of immediate payment.
The newspaper pointed out that the club's management hopes for Ferjani Sassi's approval of this proposal, which would allow the matter to be closed definitively and pave the way for lifting the registration ban, especially given the urgent need to strengthen the team in the upcoming period.
In the same context, Al-Ahram confirmed that the Zamalek management is working to secure an amount of approximately $250,000 to settle the dues of Christian Gross and José Gómez, along with other outstanding cases.
It is worth noting that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) recently announced the suspension of Zamalek's registration for three consecutive periods, marking the sixth time in the club's history. This comes amid a severe financial crisis the club is facing following the withdrawal of October land by the Egyptian Ministry of Investment.
