Eric Garcia: Happy to Renew My Contract with Barcelona, We Miss Araujo a Lot
Barcelona player Eric Garcia, 24 years old, signed his new contract with the club until 2031, in the presence of club president Joan Laporta, vice president Rafa Yuste, sporting director Deco, as well as his agent Ivan de la Peña and his family.
After signing the contract, Garcia said: "I am very happy to renew my contract with Barcelona. I have always believed that I am capable of being a key player, whether I play or not, and I will continue to work with the same commitment. I am grateful for the trust that coach Hans Flick has placed in me, and I will keep giving my best for the team."
Garcia continued speaking about his teammate Ronald Araujo, who has been away from the team due to mental health issues following criticism after the Chelsea match: "We miss Araujo both as a player and as a person. He is very well-liked, and we look forward to welcoming him back. When it comes to health matters, everyone has the right to make their own decisions. I hope he is patient and returns to us as soon as possible. He is a very important player, and we miss him on the field."
Eric Garcia added: "I have gone through difficult experiences in my career, and since my return to Barcelona, I have faced criticism. But I have learned that success requires patience and perseverance. I am grateful for everything I have been through because it has helped me grow both as a player and as a person."
The player continued speaking about the multiple positions he has played this season: "I have played in several positions this season, from center back to central midfield and even on the wings. The coach directs me based on the team's needs, and I feel comfortable in every position I play. This gives me greater opportunities to develop and benefit from the team's trust in me."
Garcia added about the external offers: "I never had any doubt about continuing with Barcelona, and I did not show any concern about potential interest from other clubs like Paris Saint-Germain. My goal has always been clear: to stay and contribute to this great team."
Garcia continued speaking about his role in the team and the club's youth: "I am proud to be part of this young team that is developing rapidly. We watch the matches, the training sessions, and learn from the experiences in the Champions League. The future is bright for the team, and we will continue working to become better."
He also spoke about his personal goal and his stance on being a leader: "I haven't set a goal to become a team leader, but I always strive to help my colleagues during difficult times. This is natural for me, not a personal ambition."
Garcia affirmed: "Being with the team since I was young and through different stages has given me the ability to adapt and learn. I appreciate the opportunities I have been given and feel a responsibility to give my best. I look forward to continuing to succeed with Barcelona in the future."
