Gamal Hamza Reveals Zamalek's Needs in the Upcoming January Transfer Window
Saturday 13-12-2025
Gamal Hamza, former Zamalek star, revealed the signings that the White Club needs in the upcoming January transfer window.

Hamza said on the program "Number One" on CBC channel: "The top matches nowadays are different from before; they have become a contest between the fans only due to the decline in the individual performance of some players like Imam Ashour, Zizo, Ahmed Fattouh, Trezeguet, and Nasser Maher."

He emphasized that Zamalek needs five high-caliber foreign professional players, in addition to some outstanding local players such as Mohamed Bassam, Zlaka, Fiston Mayele, and Karim Al-Iraqi, as well as adding players of the caliber of Marwan Attia and Trezeguet.

He continued: "I was upset because of the departure of Imam Ashour and Zizo from Zamalek, as their presence would have made a difference for the team."

He added: "Mohannad Lashin, Zelaka, Mohamed Fathy, Mohamed Ibrahim, and Karim Al-Iraqi are among the best players in Egypt."

Hamza was surprised by Youssef Obama’s departure from Zamalek, wondering, “Has the club signed players with the same qualities as Obama or someone like him?” He also affirmed that it would have been better for Mostafa Shalaby to remain on the team, as he has not been replaced by a player of the same level.

The former Zamalek star expressed his surprise at the appointment of John Edward as the club's sporting director, saying: "I expected him to be just the contracts manager, as he is an administrative person and not specialized in assessing players' skills or selecting them. This is quite surprising to me."
