UAE Sweeps Kuwait with a Hat-trick and Snatches Qualification Ticket to Arab Cup Quarterfinals
The UAE secured their qualification to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Arab Cup after defeating Kuwait 3-1 in a strong match held at Stadium 974 in Doha, the Qatari capital, as part of the group stage finale.
The UAE opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Yahya Al-Ghasani successfully converted a penalty, placing the ball firmly to the goalkeeper's right inside the net. Just two minutes later, he added a second goal with the sole of his foot following a precise cross into the penalty area.
The Kuwait national team suffered a numerical disadvantage after the referee showed a red card to player Sultan Al-Anzi in the 53rd minute following a video review, which made it more difficult for Al-Azraq to get back into the competition during the match.
Despite being short-handed, Al-Azraq succeeded in reducing the gap in the 61st minute after an excellent cross into the penalty area, which Fahad Al-Hajri rose to meet, directing a powerful header that landed to the right of the Emirati goalkeeper.
The UAE national team responded strongly through Nicolás Giménez, who fired a rocket shot from outside the box that settled in the far right corner, confirming the White team's superiority, securing all three points, and officially qualifying.
Helio Souza, the coach of Kuwait, announced his team's lineup before the match, which included Khaled Al-Rashidi as the goalkeeper, and Fahad Al-Hajri, Khaled Sabah, Moath Al-Dhafiri, and Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi in defense.
In addition to Fawaz Ayed, Ahmed Al-Dhafiri, Youssef Majid, and Sultan Al-Anzi in midfield, and Mohammed Daham and Youssef Hamed in attack, the bench includes key substitutes in an effort to secure the victory.
