Bentayek Begins Procedures to Terminate His Contract with Zamalek Due to Delayed Payments
Sunday 07-12-2025
Moroccan international Mahmoud Bentayek's lawyer has officially informed Zamalek Club's management of the initiation of legal proceedings to terminate the contract due to delayed payment of the player's financial dues, according to press reports.

This step comes after months of tension between the two parties, since the crisis first erupted last October, when the player's agents issued an official warning to the club before reaching a temporary agreement that did not last long.

The issue of outstanding payments at Zamalek has resurfaced amid the significant financial pressures the club is facing, which have affected the regular payment of salaries to players and the coaching staff. Despite the administration's efforts to contain the crisis, Bentayeb's recent notification has complicated the situation further and pushed matters toward a more severe course.

Bentayeb joined Zamalek during the last summer transfer window, coming from the French club Saint-Étienne. He played 42 matches with the team, scoring two goals and providing five assists, in addition to contributing to winning both the CAF Super Cup and the Egypt Cup titles.

The Moroccan player is the third member of the team to move towards contract termination, after Abdel Hamid Maali and Salahuddin Mosaad, indicating the depth of the crisis the club is experiencing and its direct impact on the team's stability ahead of upcoming commitments.
