Arteta: These Matters Are a Challenge, Proud of the Players
Arsenal's coach Mikel Arteta appeared in a press statement after the 2-0 victory over Brentford in the 14th round of the English Premier League.
The coach said: "It's always uncomfortable because all Brentford needs is a throw-in to start the chaos and adventure. Leading 1-0 is never enough against them, but I believe we dominated the match and created the best chances."
He added: "Overall, I am very happy. After the week we went through, and only three days without any recovery period... being able to succeed in doing it again makes me very proud of the players."
Regarding David Raya's save: "I haven't seen it again, but it seemed like a good reaction and a very important save. Their goalkeeper also made some excellent saves. But this is what you need; in crucial moments, our players have to do what is necessary, and they did just that."
Regarding getting the best out of the team: "Yes, especially with the number of injuries we are dealing with. We lost Saliba, we lost the great Gabriel, and today we lost Mosquera. It has been a big challenge. Ben White was excellent today. Every player who gets a chance performs well."
Regarding the injuries of Rice and Mosquera, and the possibility of Saliba returning against Aston Villa on Saturday: "We will know more tomorrow. They need to undergo tests. Declan had to come off... We'll see who will be available."
Regarding Mikel Merino's goal, he concluded: "What he did today once again is incredible. It's not just the goal, although it was a great goal. The movement, the quality, the final touch, the timing of everything… and then his work rate on the field. It's amazing."
