Zamalek Moves to Sell Bentayak and Abdel Megid to Resolve Its Financial Crisis
Zamalek club officials are preparing to take a major step during the upcoming winter transfer window by selling the Moroccan duo Mahmoud Bentayak and international defender Hossam Abdel Megid, in an effort to alleviate the financial crisis that has been weighing on the club for months.
According to Al-Ahram newspaper, Zamalek's management is counting on Mahmoud Bentayak's participation and outstanding performance with the Moroccan national team in the Arab Cup in Doha, hoping to market and sell him to one of the Gulf or European clubs for $3 million in the upcoming January transfer window.
The newspaper also pointed out that the management of the White Club has set an amount of 3 million dollars for the sale of defender Hossam Abdel Meguid during the winter transfer window, amid external interest in acquiring his services.
This move comes amid a series of sanctions recently imposed on Zamalek by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), following suspension decisions due to overdue payments to several former coaches and players, most notably the Portuguese José Gomes, the Tunisian Ferjani Sassi, and the Swiss Christian Gross, which has further increased the financial pressures on the club.
