Arteta: I Expected to Win, and Kaysedo's Red Card Was Correct
Arsenal's coach Mikel Arteta appeared in a press statement after the 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the thirteenth round of the English Premier League, held at Stamford Bridge.
The coach said in his speech: "It was an extremely tough match. Two teams played with a lot of aggression and intensity, and I noticed that in every tackle. As time went on, the game began to settle, and after the red card, we needed to make the right decisions, but we made a mistake and conceded a goal. This is normal when two top teams compete for the league title."
He added: "We had four players at risk of being sent off due to yellow cards, and you saw that they were targeting those players. In the very first play of the second half, we conceded a goal and had to deal with the situation. After that, we scored a wonderful goal and had two or three great chances."
He continued: "They are a very strong team. They scored seven goals from corner kicks, and we scored eight."
Regarding Kaysedo's challenge on Mikel Merino and receiving a red card: "The play was very fast. I saw the players' reactions, and everyone said he should be sent off. The referee Anthony made the decision, and I believe it was the right one."
He emphasized, saying: "It was an extremely exhausting week both physically and emotionally. We had one less day of rest than them. They played here at Stamford Bridge after their victory over Barcelona. Despite that, I always expected to win."
He concluded: "We have a new match on Wednesday, and we must prepare well to face a tough team like Brentford, followed by Aston Villa."
