Guardiola: This is What I Told Haaland, and We Got Three Important Points
Sunday 30-11-2025
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola appeared in press statements following the 3-2 victory over Leeds United in the thirteenth round of the English Premier League.

The coach began his speech: "We secured three important points. When you look at the match overall, the first half should have been decided, but in the Premier League, even when you score the third goal, things never end."

He added: "After Daniel Farke changed the playing style, with long passes to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha running behind the defense line, the match was always difficult. These emotions are part of football. We had opportunities, and in the end, we found our goal."

Regarding his talk with Haaland after the match: "I told him he will score his 100th goal in the next match. We only talked about rest. His body is very big. Minutes are important... at that moment, the player is active. Rest is not only for the legs (also mentally and psychologically). He is not like Phil or Jeremy; they can rest. Erling is a big man, and we need him a lot."

He continued, praising Phil Foden: "This is not the first time we see this. A thousand, a thousand, a million times he has done it. Quality in shooting and power. Like his goal against West Ham that decided the Premier League. Phil must be around the penalty area, whether to shoot or to pass. His finishing is very quick, and Phil is having a great season."

He concluded: "Tonight we will sleep in second place; tomorrow we will continue to progress and work."
